Renegade (The Captive Series) by Erica Stevens

Renegade by Erica Stevens is the second book in the Captive series. Renegade follows Aria in the aftermath of her escape and how she comes to terms with leaving Braith. He also struggles with his feelings of betrayal after her escape. The magic that the first book had is still present in the first half of this book. The reader is anxious to see the two reunited so that they can clear up the misunderstandings between them. I found myself struggling to get through the second half of this book however, as it spent a lot of time explaining histories and setting up future books I assume. All in all, I was disappointed in this book when I had enjoyed the first book so much. It will be a while before I try the third in the series, though I am still interested.

Captured by Erica Stevens

I was searching Amazon for free books the other night and Captured by Erica Stevens caught my eye. I downloaded it and a few nights of reading  later, I was finished with it and eager to start the next in the series. Captured centers on the main character Aria, a seventeen year old girl living in a world where vampires are the ruling race. Aria grew up the daughter of the rebel leader living in the woods. She has grown up fending for herself and living a life without luxury. The war between the vampires and humans ended a hundred years ago and humans either willingly serve the vampires or they are taken as blood slaves. Aria and her friend Max are captured and taken to the city to be auctioned off as blood slaves. Aria is chosen by the prince, who has never wanted a blood slave before, but finds something about Aria that he cannot overlook. Aria must keep her identity a secret from the prince while she plans an escape. The story is fast moving and it is a great romantic read. The best thing is, there are three sequels already out!
